Adoption

I am passionate about providing education and support to individuals seeking to create strong families, both prior to and following their adoption experience.

For more than 30 years, my practice has included conducting and preparing home studies for adoptive families throughout Texas. I have assisted clients pursuing private and agency adoption, step parent adoption, second parent adoption, and kinship adoption. In addition to completing initial home study evaluations, I prepare updates and post placement reports. For information about specific services and fees, click here. (I’m also happy to meet to talk about the adoption process, including different types of placements.)

Adoption embodies a set of interpersonal relationships that include the joy, complexity, and ups and downs we all know to exist in our connections with fellow humans beings. The balance in these relationships can shift over time and stir up unexpected or unsettling responses.

I’ve had the good fortune to be a part of the adoption universe for many years, learning a lot from friends and clients about some of the particular realities present in adoption stories. I welcome the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience in assisting adopted people, prospective adoptive parents, adoptive parents/families, and first parents/birth families when they find they need some help.
